Passenger lifts in offices and flats need a LOLER thorough examination at least every six months, as well as regular servicing. We’ll keep your records up to date and handle the work the examiner’s report asks for.
Servicing and Breakdowns
We set the service frequency from the manufacturer’s instructions and how hard the equipment works. If something does fail, we’ll give you a realistic arrival time and tell you straight away if parts are needed.

Can a scissor lift table be used as a loading bay lift?
Yes. Scissor lift tables built to BS EN 1570 are one of the most common types of loading bay lift.
Can forklifts drive into a goods lift?
Only if the lift was designed for it. A forklift’s weight and wheel loads are far higher than hand-loaded goods, so the car floor, sills and rated load must allow for it.
Who can operate a loading bay lift?
Only trained operators. People should stay off the platform while it moves unless it’s designed to carry them.
What daily checks should operators do?
Under PUWER, operators should check equipment is safe before use, including controls, guards and emergency stops, and report faults straight away.
Can a goods lift be converted to carry passengers?
It’s rarely practical. It would need major work to meet passenger lift standards, so a new lift is usually the better option.
Does a goods lift need an emergency alarm?
If anyone can travel in the car, yes. It needs a way to raise the alarm and talk to someone outside.
Can a loading bay lift be fitted outdoors?
Yes. Outdoor loading bay lifts need weatherproof components and a well-drained pit to stop water collecting.
How much notice do we need for a LOLER examination?
Book it with your insurer well before the due date and plan for the equipment to be out of use for a short time.
