Only if it’s designed and approved to carry people. A goods-only lift must never carry passengers, even with a load.
How do we stop our goods lift being overloaded?
Make sure the rated load is clearly displayed, show staff what that means in boxes or cages, and get the overload device checked if it isn’t stopping the lift when it should.
What happens if the lift breaks down in sheltered housing?
Residents who can’t manage the stairs may need help with shopping, appointments and getting out. A simple plan agreed in advance makes this much easier.
How noisy is a home lift?
Modern home lifts are quiet, usually no louder than a normal domestic appliance.
What maintenance does a home lift need between services?
Keep the area around the lift clear, check the phone or alarm works and report any new noise or jerky movement. Leave anything else to your service engineer.
