High School – Easylift Installation

Accessibility Upgrade – John Fisher & Thomas More RC High School, Colne, Lancashire

Creating and maintaining safe, reliable and accessible environments within schools is essential for supporting students, staff and visitors. When accessibility equipment becomes unreliable, it can quickly affect the day-to-day operation of a building and potentially limit independent movement throughout the site.

TJ Lift Solutions was recently appointed to complete an accessibility upgrade project at a high school in Colne, Lancashire, following ongoing issues with an ageing platform lift. The existing lift had become increasingly unreliable, resulting in repeated faults, operational concerns and growing maintenance challenges. As the equipment aged, sourcing parts and maintaining dependable performance also became more difficult.

The school required a modern, long-term solution that would improve reliability while ensuring continued accessibility throughout the building. Minimising disruption during the works was also a key priority, as the project needed to be completed safely and efficiently within a live educational environment.

The Solution

Following an initial site assessment and consultation with the client, TJ Lift Solutions recommended the complete removal of the existing platform lift and replacement with a new Liftup Easylift platform lift system.

The Liftup Easylift was selected due to its modern design, dependable operation and suitability for educational environments where reliability, accessibility and ease of use are critical. The new platform lift offers smooth and quiet travel, improved user controls and enhanced safety features, helping to provide a far better experience for all users.

Our engineers carefully planned the removal and replacement works to ensure the installation process was completed as efficiently as possible. The existing lift was fully decommissioned and removed before preparations were carried out for the new installation.

Once the site was ready, the new Liftup Easylift platform lift was installed, tested and commissioned by our experienced engineering team. Throughout the project, close communication was maintained with the school to ensure works progressed smoothly and safely while minimising disruption to staff and students.

As with all TJ Lift Solutions projects, the installation was completed in line with current industry standards and best practices, ensuring the school received a compliant, reliable and future-ready accessibility solution.

The Outcome

The completed installation has provided the school with a significant improvement in both reliability and user confidence. The new Liftup Easylift platform lift now delivers smooth, quiet and dependable operation, helping to ensure continued accessibility across the building for many years to come.

By replacing the ageing and problematic platform lift system, the school has reduced the risk of unexpected breakdowns and ongoing operational disruption. The modern lift solution also provides improved safety features and a more user-friendly experience for students, staff and visitors requiring assisted access throughout the premises.

This project highlights the importance of proactive accessibility upgrades within educational facilities and demonstrates how modern platform lift solutions can provide long-term operational benefits alongside improved inclusivity.

TJ Lift Solutions is proud to have supported the school with another successful accessibility improvement project and continues to help organisations across the UK modernise and maintain safe, reliable lift systems tailored to their individual requirements.
